From 'Raffles to Records'
Volunteer Marine Rescue Association Queensland and it's affiliated squadrons receive partial funding from the Queensland Government. These funds and public donations are greatly appreciated, however Squadrons are required to raise the extra capital needed to maintain their rescue services.
At a squadron level, our volunteers work tirelessly to raise these extra funds. Raffles are a regular event in all our squadrons, however at times more inventive means are employed, one standout is the "KFC Corkscrew Rollercoaster Challenge at Sea World".
A group of volunteers from the Southport Squadron set about establishing the record of 120 consecutive revolutions on the Sea World Corkscrew Rollercoaster. This event attracted a number of corporate sponsors, as well as raising funds on a "sponsorship per revolution" basis and achieved a total of $15 000 for the Southport Squadron.
If you would like to support VMRAQ or the Squadron of your choice by way of donation, please email here for full details. Bequests
One lesser known form of valued sponsorship is the bequeathing of funds from one's estate. Many sponsors are proud to be able to support our association in this manner and it is a simple matter of placing the following statement in one's Last Will and Testament.
I bequeath the sum of (amount in dollars) free of all duties to the (Volunteer Marine Rescue Association of Queensland Inc. or VMR Squadron of your choice) , and declare that the receipt of the Treasurer, or other proper officer for the time being of the said Association, shall be sufficient discharge for same.
Volunteer Marine Rescue Association Queensland Inc. and Affiliated Squadrons would like to thanks those who have and continue to support our Associations, without your support it would not be possible to maintain our rescue services.
